I have braved the video camera for the first time today and with the very patient help of my producer, editor and technical support, Miss Welsh, I am sending out a video message to all of our children today. Please be kind – it was done in one take! Whilst, we are delighted that the children who have been able to access school are having a lovely time, we are fully aware of the challenge for those children and families who cannot yet come into school. I want the children to know that we are thinking of them but I also want them to see that it is not school as we all know and love. I would ask you to share the message with your children please. (The link apparently runs out in a week!)
It has been a successful week so far in school and despite an early hiccup, we now have all the Year 6s in who requested a place. The logistics of arriving and leaving at staggered times seem to be working well, which is reassuring as it may well be a feature of the school day for a significant time to come.
Two groups of Reception will be starting next week: R.1 on Monday and R.2 on Wednesday and we are nearly at full capacity for Key Workers with all teaching staff and TAs now in bubbles with no capacity for further expansion.
Whilst we await the Government’s “Big Plan” we are looking at ways that we can connect with children not presently in school about transition to their new classes ready for September as we know it is an anxious time for everyone. Hopefully, we will have some clear guidance soon of what the Government expectations will be for the next phase for education.
I will be in touch soon with further updates,
