Letter from Mrs Harrison 20/11/20

Friday 20th November 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

I don’t mean to tempt fate, but we have survived another week without serious disruption! Thank you for your continued support and prompt actions when children/family members are displaying symptoms. I hope this letter finds you all well as we go into the weekend.

This morning we were delighted to host Zoom Question and Answer sessions to prospective parents for Reception 2020-21 intake. Sadly, it was not the event that we like it to be usually, but it is a reminder of how school life moves on despite the chaotic world outside. If you have a sibling that you are planning to come to Reception next year, please can you drop the office email a line to let us know? That way we can keep an eye out for the applications as they come in and make sure your child is on our list.

Thank you to their parents who have signed up for school lunches again. Please have a look at the menus online for Monday and let us know if our child would like to take them up again over the coming weeks.

We are very pleased to announce that we have expanded our subscription to Ed Shed so that we now have access to both Spelling Shed and Maths Shed. Teachers will be exploring the resources and setting pupils (Y1-Y6) assignments linked to key number skills and curriculum areas over the next few weeks. The good news is your child’s/children’s login details are exactly the same ones they currently use for Spelling Shed.

You can access both here:

As promised we are starting to plan our Christmas menu of activities. We are really aware that children may not get the opportunity this year out of school to do the things that we usually do as families, so we are looking to supplement the festivities with things that we can do safely in school. What we also have to bear in mind is what can be transferred to online should any bubbles close so that children don’t miss out. Quite a challenge! All these activities are being funded from the ever-shrinking school budget, so if parents are able to make a donation through School Fund, it would be greatly appreciated. We are setting up an additional payment of £10 if you have already paid and feel you can contribute a little more as I have been asked on the gate how you can help.

Tuesday 1st – Tin Day Tuesday. Please can children bring a non-perishable food/toiletry item to collect for the Foodbank? Boxes will be available outside the classroom doors at drop off.

Friday 4th – Accessorize your uniform with sparkle! Children to bring in gifts for the secrets room. More details to follow from the PTA.

Wednesday 16th – AM  Virtual Carol service for whole school. PM PTA Movie Afternoon

Thursday 17thWhole School Streamed Professional Pantomime

In addition, each class will have a Christmas Party. Staff will let you know nearer the time which day it will be. The children will be able to come in their party clothes and school will provide the food.

Sadly, we are unable to invite parents in for the Nativity and Christmas play this year. However, the Reception Team are working on a video of the Reception children doing their Nativity performance as we realise that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! We have asked Hannah Brooke to take some tableau and individual photographs and she has kindly agreed to do them at cost with any profits going to the school. Once we get the show on the road, we will let you know the costs of the photos and how to order them. The video of the nativity will be available online in the last week of term.

Please note that School closes on Friday 18th December at 1.30pm. Please see below for collection times:
