Monday 16th November 2020
Dear parents and carers,
We are two weekends in with 2 weekends to go of the latest lockdown and I hope that you are all coping well and making the most of the free time that it generates! I can’t say that I am missing the usual start to the Christmas shopping clamour but I guess it will only make things worse if we are all “freed” on the 2nd! Remember that if you are resorting to Amazon (or other online retailers) you can be making money for the school at the same time through easyfundraising. We get £5 per new person enrolling and then a % of what you spend. It doesn’t cost you anything – free money! https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/deightongatespta/?invite=AC2R8M&referral-campaign=s2s
This week, the staff will be finalising the first draft of our Christmas activities so watch this space. Please note as a reminder that, sadly, children will not be able to distribute cards in school this year.
Mrs Pearson brought to our attention a local initiative to support the Wetherby Foodbank – Tin Tuesday. From Tuesday 24th November and then fortnightly, we will be collecting tins outside classrooms for families that need support with food parcels. We will collect the tins (and packages), quarantine them and the deliver to the foodbank. If successful, we will continue into the New Year. Miss Elliot will be sending out more details shortly. Please make sure that tins and packets have a long shelf life on them.
I am delighted to welcome Mrs Krissie Bamforth to the Deighton Gates Team today. Mrs Bamforth will be working in the office and will be a main point of contact for any enquiries from parents.
Thank you for your continued support in these trying times. We continue to have children who are having to isolate due to direct contact with people who have tested positive or who are waiting for test results themselves. Thankfully the tests seems to be more freely available now and there is a faster turn around time for results. However, there are several local schools who are seeing a significant increase in the number of child cases. Please can you keep us updated with any COVID related information through the staff email address firstname.lastname@example.org rather than relying on the answer machine message. I check the email account regularly in the evenings and at weekends so that if we have to close a bubble, we can give families the most notice to put arrangements in place.
Mrs Claire Harrison
