Thursday 10th September 2020 Letter from Mrs Harrison

Thursday 10th September 2020

Dear Parents

The time has finally come for our new Reception children to start our school and we can’t wait! I met a few this morning who looked as though they were already settling in well and making the most of our fruit and veg snacks!

We are now into our third day of drop offs and pick ups and feedback has been very positive. I must admit I feel a lot happier than I did on Monday evening!   Thank you for all your support in making this as smooth as possible and your supportive comments. We do review on a daily basis to make it the safest we can.

From Monday please can we ask all Reception parents to use Gate 1 only to access Reception and then follow the one way system out through either Gate 1 or 2. This is to avoid families crossing at the Reception gate. Parents dropping children off at Brook Babes would be able to exit from Gate 3 but not enter via Gate 3. It may sound complicated but staff will be on hand to help until routines are established.

Please can we politely remind parents at drop off and collection to leave the site immediately to help control the numbers.

Today I will be representing the school at Sue Mahrahui’s funeral. Sue was our lovely cook who sadly passed away suddenly during the summer holidays. We are hoping to raise some money over the coming weeks to create a flower bed in her memory. One or two parents have asked about buying the face coverings that I made for staff with the rainbow emblem on. They are not professional and I hadn’t used a sewing machine since I made my DT apron at High school in 1979 so they are all “individual”!! However, if you would like to have one and make a donation, I am happy to make some. I won’t be offended if you don’t want one! You will still be able to make a donation to the Sue Flower fund. If it is something that you would like, please email me

Best wishes

Mrs Claire Harrison
