Transition Meetings Letter 03/07/20

Dear Parents,

It’s been another very busy week in school and following the announcement of the ‘Big Plan’ on Thursday we are working tirelessly to prepare for the wider opening of the school in September. Once we have addressed some of the finer details, we will be able to share our plans.

In the meantime, we are looking forward to hosting our transition meetings for all year groups over the next two weeks. The purpose of these meetings is to provide pupils with some contact with their classmates and an opportunity to say goodbye to their teacher from this year and meet their new one. Thank you to those of you that have already confirmed your intentions to attend these sessions. If you haven’t done so already, please can I encourage you to inform teachers through the year group email addresses as a matter of urgency. Based on our strict control measures within our risk assessment, we will only be allowing those families that have confirmed their intentions to attend. For those pupils already attending school in Reception, Year 1 and Key Worker bubbles parents do not need to attend.

As you will know already, we have a Plan A and Plan B. You will be contacted in the morning of the event if we are going to Plan B because of poor weather.  For each plan, please read the following instructions carefully before attending the sessions.

Plan A

  • Arrive promptly at the set time via the main entrance and queue socially distanced (2M) by the gate to the KS2 playground (between the conference room and pond area).
  • Once the gate is open, you will be asked to make your way to the grass area within the running track.
  • Once in the designated area, the parent and child attending the session should find a space to sit (outdoor chairs or picnic blankets are encouraged) and must ensure that they are social distanced by 2m.
  • This will then enable staff to move around and introduce themselves/ say goodbye to each family as well as providing a chance for pupils to catch up with their classmates.
  • We must be clear that it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their child adheres to social distancing measures.

Plan B

Teachers have sent out emails this week to indicate whether you’ll be in group 1 or group 2. If you are unsure which group you are in, please send an email to the year group accounts to confirm.

  • Arrive promptly at the set time via the main the entrance and queue (socially distanced) by the entrance to KS2 hall.
  • Please provide your own hand sanitiser for you and your child. It will need to be applied on entering the building.
  • In the hall there will be chairs and benches set out for you to sit at with your child. These will be set out according to social distancing guidance so we must ask that these are not moved or rearranged.
  • This will then enable staff to move around and introduce themselves/say goodbye to each family as well as providing a chance for pupils to catch up with their classmates.
  • We must be clear that it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their child adheres to social distancing measures.

We look forward to seeing many of you over the next two weeks.

Take care and have a good weekend!

Best wishes

Claire Harrison
