Dear Parents and Carers,
The Government’s announcement this week about the new tiers serves as a reminder that COVID will be with us for quite a time to come. I received the attached poster today and thought it would be useful to share with you as a handy reminder of what we can and can’t do in a HIGH tier. It is suggested that Leeds City Council may well move to the higher tier over the coming days and is therefore critical that we continue to keep to the rules about household mixing.
Also attached under the 'NewsLetters' section is a symptoms checker. We have been finding that people who are testing positive, especially in the school age groups are not necessarily showing just the 3 key symptoms that we have been asked to look out for. In fact in my case back in March, it was the headache that was worst for me.
In school, we are still having to manage staff absence as they have to isolate, as well as supporting individual or groups of children who are isolating with family members. However, we are pleased that we are still managing to keep the high levels of hygiene with hand washing, face coverings and socially distancing and therefore reducing risk.
Thank you to the Year 4 parents who shared their feedback with us about the use of Teams during their isolation. There were some really encouraging comments and some things to work on. Our Remote Education Policy should be completed by the end of the week and we will share it with you as soon as we can.
Please can we remind you to access your child’s Teams account as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so? Children have been asked to view and “turn in” a piece of work to test the system before the next bubble closure as we will have limited capacity to support families in the event of a year group bubble closing and staff being off site. This is the medium that the Government is expecting children to use in the case of not being able to attend school.
Finally, thank you to the parents that expressed an interest in joining our Governing Body. James Stalker (Reception) and Lynsey Smith (year 5) will be joining us as Parent Governors and Beth Coburn (Reception) will be joining as a Co-opted Governor. We are really looking forward to working with them starting at our next meeting on November 4th.
It is lovely to see some sunshine today – let’s hope it lasts!
Mrs Claire Harrison
