Welcome to Year 1!

This is an exciting year where children build on the foundations laid in Reception and take the next step in their learning journey. We encourage children to become increasingly independent while maintaining the creativity, curiosity and sense of wonder that make learning enjoyable. From developing reading and writing skills to exploring new topics across the curriculum, every day brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow and achieve.

We are excited to share our learning with you throughout the year.

Wednesday	PE Day - Children should come in their PE kit. Library books changed.
Thursday	Reading books will be changed and records will be checked. Please ensure your reading book and record is in school on this day. Spelling Quiz	Musical Theatre Spanish
Friday	PE Day - Children should come in their PE kit. New spellings given out.

 

Homework

• Reading at least 3 times a week recorded in their reading record (reading record checked every Thursday and new reading books will be given out)
• Spelling Shed 3 times a week (checked on a Friday)
• Numbots 2 times a week (checked on a Friday)

Children will be awarded 5 DOJO points for the above homework each week (totalling 15 points).

• Children are welcome to bring in extra homework each day linked to their current learning, and they will also be awarded with 5 DOJO points per piece of homework per day (totalling a maximum of 25 DOJO points per week).

 

What should I bring to school each day?

• Reading books and reading record
• Bookbag
• Warm coat/ waterproof coat (named) (weather dependant) 
• Warm hat/ sunhat (named) (weather dependant) 
• One small snack
• A water bottle
