Safeguarding at Deighton Gates Primary School

At Deighton Gates Primary School, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected and protected.

We believe that all children have the right to feel safe and to be supported to achieve their full potential. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and we work closely with pupils, families, staff, governors and external agencies to ensure that the wellbeing of every child remains our highest priority.

Our staff receive regular safeguarding training and are vigilant in recognising and responding to any concerns. Through our curriculum, pastoral support and strong partnerships with families, we help children develop the knowledge, confidence and resilience they need to stay safe, both in school and beyond.

If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child, please contact a member of our safeguarding team immediately.

For any confidential safeguarding or child protection concerns, speak in person to any of the staff listed above or email staff@deightongates.leeds.sch.uk  (FAO Safeguarding Team)

For independent referrals, contact Children and Young People Social Care on 0113 222 4403 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm). If a child is at immediate risk out of hours, call 999 immediately.

Concerns about a staff member should go to the Executive Headteacher, Mr G Hirst, via staff@deightongates.leeds.sch.uk

Concerns about the Executive Headteacher should be sent to the Chair of Governors, Mr David Thornton, via staff@deightongates.leeds.sch.uk
