Admissions

Reception Admissions

The Governing Body is responsible for admissions to Deighton Gates Primary School. Our Published Admission Number (PAN) is 30 pupils in Reception each year. This admission limit has been agreed between the Governing Body and the Local Authority.

In line with national regulations, infant classes (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) are limited to a maximum of 30 pupils per class.

Children are normally admitted to Reception in September following their fourth birthday.

Deferring Your Child's Start Date

Parents may request to defer their child's admission until later in the same academic year, or until their child reaches compulsory school age.  Requests to defer a start date until compulsory school age should be made in writing to the Head of School.  Compulsory school age begins at the start of the school term following a child's fifth birthday.

Applications for Reception places are managed by Leeds City Council and follow the admissions timetable agreed by the Local Authority.
