Friends of Deighton Gates (PTA)

As a parent, grandparent, carer, friend or neighbour of a Deighton Gates child, you are welcomed to the family that is the "Friends of Deighton Gates".

Formerly known as the PTA, we hold regular meetings and everyone is encouraged to attend and share ideas on how to raise vital funds for our children.  It’s also a good place to have a cuppa and chat!  The more people we have as active members the easier it is to fundraise, organise family events and develop new ideas for future events.

We hold regular, very popular events such as our summer fairs, Christmas Quizzes, school discos and bake sales hosted by the year groups.  We have been very lucky with fantastic support from local community to hold regular raffles with prizes that have included motorhome hire, a glamping holiday, festival tickets, a signed Leeds United first team shirt, vouchers for photoshoots, beauty treatments, vouchers for local shops and businesses.....and the list goes on!

The success of these events has been down to the amazing support we get from parents and friends of the school.  Families have realised that these events raise money for the school and as importantly they are great fun!!

In recent years the money we have raised has funded an outdoor classroom, the Year 1 outdoor area, an upgraded IT suite, a fully re-furbished Sensory Room, our all-weather fitness track, new school library books, defibrillator (which is available for school as well as the whole local community) and also an Imagination Playground resource, classroom smart-boards, PA system and many more small but equally important projects.

The Friends of Deighton Gates also provides every child with a reading folder to start school with and a gift to remember their time here when they leave for high school.

The events are a great opportunity for you and your child to socialise with other members of the school community.  They are great days and nights out for everyone who attends.

And That's a Wrap!

We've just held our AGM, in which we reflected on this school year as it draws to an end. We unanimously agreed it's been a very successful one, both in terms of funds raised but also enhancing our school community.

We would like to share our very beautiful overview of funds raised, we could not have done it without the help and support of all our parents, carers, school staff, businesses and the wider community.

From everyone at FoDG we hope you have a super summer holidays, enjoy a break from our reminders(!) and we have plenty on the horizon to work towards next year!

THANK YOU ALL!!

Amazing News!!

Back in April, one of our FoDG team submitted an application for a grant through her work, for the remaining amount needed for the outdoor classroom. We carried on with our plans to fundraise in the meantime, uncertain if we'd be successful...

Last week we received the news that we have been awarded £5,750!!!

This means that all the money we raised at the summer fair can be spent on other projects for our children at school.

This is a HUGE amount to receive and is a significant percentage of what we would usually raise in an entire year.

We must say a MASSIVE thank you to Katie Horridge for submitting the application and to NPower Business Solutions for awarding us this money.

Fund Raising Thermometer

Friends of Deighton Gates have been awarded £1,000 from the Drax Group Community Fund to help us fund our outdoor classroom project!! This was a real boost to our fundraising efforts and took our total to £7698! A big thank you to one of our parent governors, Nick Smith, for submitting the application on our behalf!

Add to that the FANTASTIC £4,353 we raised at the summer fair, we have smashed our target!  This means we have spare funds to put towards more projects fort the benefit of the children at Deighton Gates.

THANK YOU ALL!!

Summer Fair 2024

The weather for our "summer" fair 2024 was most certainly not kind to us, however you all were with your support!! Thank you so much to everyone for still coming along and making it the best it could be in the circumstances.

We are over the moon to tell you that despite the rain, we still raised £4,353.78 This is fantastic news, meaning we've surpassed our goal of reaching £10,000 so have spare funds to put towards more projects for the benefit of the children at Deighton Gates!

Thank you for all the donations of cakes, tombola prizes, preloved teddies etc. Thank you to everyone who helped set up, volunteered on stalls and cleared away at the end. It really is a huge undertaking and every single person who helps makes a difference! And lastly thank you to everyone who came and spent the afternoon with us and their hard earned money!
