As a parent, grandparent, carer, friend or neighbour of a Deighton Gates child, you are welcomed to the family that is the "Friends of Deighton Gates".
Formerly known as the PTA, we hold regular meetings and everyone is encouraged to attend and share ideas on how to raise vital funds for our children. It’s also a good place to have a cuppa and chat! The more people we have as active members the easier it is to fundraise, organise family events and develop new ideas for future events.
We hold regular, very popular events such as our summer fairs, Christmas Quizzes, school discos and bake sales hosted by the year groups. We have been very lucky with fantastic support from local community to hold regular raffles with prizes that have included motorhome hire, a glamping holiday, festival tickets, a signed Leeds United first team shirt, vouchers for photoshoots, beauty treatments, vouchers for local shops and businesses.....and the list goes on!
The success of these events has been down to the amazing support we get from parents and friends of the school. Families have realised that these events raise money for the school and as importantly they are great fun!!
In recent years the money we have raised has funded an outdoor classroom, the Year 1 outdoor area, an upgraded IT suite, a fully re-furbished Sensory Room, our all-weather fitness track, new school library books, defibrillator (which is available for school as well as the whole local community) and also an Imagination Playground resource, classroom smart-boards, PA system and many more small but equally important projects.
The Friends of Deighton Gates also provides every child with a reading folder to start school with and a gift to remember their time here when they leave for high school.
The events are a great opportunity for you and your child to socialise with other members of the school community. They are great days and nights out for everyone who attends.

Upcoming Events - Autumn & Winter Term 2024
Amazing News!!
Back in April, one of our FoDG team submitted an application for a grant through her work, for the remaining amount needed for the outdoor classroom. We carried on with our plans to fundraise in the meantime, uncertain if we'd be successful...
Last week we received the news that we have been awarded £5,750!!!
This means that all the money we raised at the summer fair can be spent on other projects for our children at school.
This is a HUGE amount to receive and is a significant percentage of what we would usually raise in an entire year.
We must say a MASSIVE thank you to Katie Horridge for submitting the application and to NPower Business Solutions for awarding us this money.
Upcoming Meeting Dates
Meetings are generally held from 8pm in the school conference room. Online MS Teams links are also available for people to dial in. Joining info available prior to the meeting or email us at fodg@dgpta.org.

3. Co-Op Local Causes
Friends of Deighton Gates has been selected to be one of 3 "local causes" for the Co-op community fund. We will receive a minimum of £1000 but the fund runs for a year from now and the more people who select us as their nominated cause, the more money we receive.
NB- you can nominate from anywhere in the country as long as you are a co-op member (costs £1 to join) so Grandparents/friends/relations can choose to support us from afar!
Please log in and select us as your local cause. Using the link really does take seconds to do!
