Year 5 2021-22

London 2022! What a fantastic, non-stop time we had in London. The kids were amazing and very well behaved and all of them slept through the night!! Thank you Year 5s for making it such a memorable trip.

Jubilee Celebrations - Year 5 enjoyed celebrating the 50th anniversary of Deighton Gates and the Queen's 70 year reign. We danced the 'Lambeth Walk' in our 1940s clothing and ate jelly and ice-cream and a Jubilee themed biscuit.

Our Summer 2 theme is 'Incredible Egyptians.' We will use sources of evidence to find out about the structure, pastimes and beliefs of Ancient Egypt. We will discuss the lives of women, men and children and compare and contrast with modern times. Linked to this, in Art we will be designing and creating death masks in typical, Ancient Egyptian opulent style.

Our Science focus is on forces all around us, including gravity, friction, air and water resistance.

Please continue to check this page regularly for important information about PE days, homework, spelling lists, curriculum coverage and useful links. It will also feature photographs and videos of our work and experiences.

We had a great day at Harewood House for our class trip! We participated in 3 workshops throughout the day and also had time to wander around the house!

We enjoyed a music workshop, learning how to sing in time, play a rhythm and improvise.

WW2 Day

Tom Palmer visited us last week to talk about his new piece of writing, 'The Barnbow Lasses' which linked to our war topic. We were lucky enough to be 1 of 3 schools to win this visit by Tom!

During the last week of the autumn term, we cooked our WW2 recipe and had our reward party! Here are some photos:
