Year 3 2020-21

This webpage will provide you will lots of important information such as PE days, curriculum coverage and useful links.  We will also keep this page updated with photographs and videos of the exciting learning and experiences we have during year 3 and any changes to our routines.

Snack

Please note that fruit is not provided in KS2 and so children wishing to have snack are required to bring their own.

PE

PE will take place on a Monday and Wednesday, so please come in to school in your school PE kit on these days.  PE will often be outside, so please ensure you are wearing appropriate clothing for the weather! Please also remember to bring a water bottle in each day with you and a sunhat/sun cream if necessary.

Support at home

It is an expectation throughout school that Spelling Shed and Times Table Rock Stars are accessed a minimum of 3 times each week, outside of the school day.  Please support your child in accessing these, as this will help them to develop fluency of the skills taught in school.  If Lexia is used, it is important that 1 hour per week is completed.

Please also read with your child each day if you can.  Where possible discuss the plot and characters, and make predictions regarding what might happen next with your child.  This will allow them to develop their understanding and inference skills as well as their word reading.

Reading books will continue to be online and will automatically change when the book has been read and all activities completed.  You can access the book again if you wish, it will remain on the account.  Book bands will be changed in school (when appropriate) and the online books altered to ensure appropriate level reading materials continue to be provided.

Please read the school reader several times during the week.  You can also read suitable books from home to help you reach your 20mins reading per night.

Children can also access the learning log suggestions (Link below).  A new learning log will be added each half term to link in with our current topics.

Spelling tests

Spellings to learn will be uploaded to Spelling Shed on a Friday for testing the following Friday.  Spellings have been added to this webpage in addition to the previous half terms which have been left on to support consolidation.  Each half term a range of spellings will be added to Spelling Shed from the ones we have been learning for additional practice.

Thank you for your support with this.
