Welcome to Year 1 – Autumn Term 1
We are so excited to begin our learning journey together in Year 1! This half term, the children will be settling into their new routines, building confidence, and exploring lots of exciting topics. We’ll be focusing on developing key skills in reading, writing, and maths, as well as enjoying creative activities in art, science, and topic work.
We look forward to sharing the children’s achievements with you throughout the term – keep checking our page for updates, photos, and celebrations of their hard work.
We explored a variety of religious stories in RE and had a lot of fun matching each story to the religion, helping us understand different beliefs and traditions.
Some of our amazing sculptures! We had a great time creating our clay animals!
Year 1 had a fantastic time using clay to make clay sculptures!
Great Maths learning from Year 1, exploring 'more', 'fewer' and then the 'same'.
As a class we have began to observe the weather! We have made a rain gauge to record how much rainfall we get! We have created a class chart in which we can record the weather!
Year 1 enjoyed using drawing their own numberline to count backwards and forwards from any given number!
Year 1's fantastic Maths learning today. We looked at representing numbers, number formation and even writing numbers!
Year 1 took their maths learning outdoors this week, exploring the school grounds to find natural objects. The children had a wonderful time working together to collect sticks, leaves, and stones, which they then used to practise counting up to 10!
Year 1 explored the different seasons using a feely box. The children reached inside the box to feel and describe mystery objects that represented spring, summer, autumn, and winter!
