Welcome to Year One
with Miss Welsh and Mrs Thompson
Our theme in Summer One is The Great Outdoors!
This half term we will be busy learning all sorts! In Science, we will identify and name common materials, grouping and testing them too. We will design and create our very own 'Teddy Chairs' in DT, big enough to hold one of our teddies from home! Transport will also be one of our themes, as we delve back in time and learn about the history of transport, with a particular focus on Wetherby and the old railway line. We will still enjoy our usual PE, Music, PSHE, RE and Computing sessions too! Scroll down to see our Medium Term Plan and find out more about our learning.
Homework expectations in Year One:
Children are expected to read at least 3 times per week at home and practice their spellings on spelling shed / paper (below) at least 3 times a week. The children will receive 5 Dojo points for reading 3 times at home, and 5 Dojo points for practising their spellings 3 times. In total children can earn 10 extra points per week for completing their homework.
