Year 5

Quick note on spelling:

Just to confirm there will be no spelling test on Friday 7th November. Instead, the children were asked to spend some time revising the Year 5-6 words we have learned so far in Autumn 1. Many thanks.

Testing different materials to see which are electrical conductors and insulators

We are looking forward to a fun and varied Autumn 1 in Year 5.  We will develop our geographical skills learning about the Grand Canyon. We will find out about its location, physical features and human impact.

In Art, we will investigate the works of L.S Lowry who depicted everyday life in industrial Britain using 'stickmen' and a dull palette of colours. Inspired by Lowry, we will then create our own piece of art using the backdrop of modern day Leeds.

We will develop our investigative skills in Science, planning and carrying out a range of experiments exploring the properties and changes in materials. Which objects are solids, liquids and gases? How can we separate sand from gravel? Can we turn saltwater into drinking water?

See you then!
